1. Finding percents:
- 50%, you need to divide the whole by 2.
- 10%, divide the whole by 10.
- 1%, just divide the whole number by 100.
- 25%? Divide your whole by 4!

3.
- Converting 26% to decimals and fractions:
Decimals:
26% / 100 = 0.26
Fractions:
26% / 100 = 0.26
0.26 is in the hundredths place, so it would convert to 26/100 because the decimal is out of one hundred.
- Converting 7/10 to decimals and percents:
Decimal:
7 / 10 = 0.7
Percent:
0.7 x 100 = 70
- Converting 0.024 to fractions and percents:
Fractions: 0.024 is in the thousandths place, so it would convert to 24/1000 because 0.024 is out of 100.
Percent: 0.024 x 100 = 0.24
0.24 would convert to 24% because 0.24 is out of 100.

4.
- 20% of 60
Mental: 60 / 10 = 6
6 x 2 = 12
12 = 20%
Calculator: 20% x 100 = 0.2
0.2 x 60 = 12
- 0.1% of 40
Mental: 0.1% / 40 = 4
4 / 100 = 0.04
Calculator: 0.1% / 100 = 0.001
0.001 x 40 = 0.04
- 250% of 400
400 / 2 = 200
200 + 800 = 1000
Calculator: 250% / 100 = 2.5
2.5 x 400 = 1000

5. #7, page 149
A herd of 100 caribou was moved to a new location. The population increased by 10% the first year, then increased by 20% the next year.
A) Find the population after the second year.
10% / 100 = 0.1
0.1 x 100 = 10
10 + 100 = 110
20% / 100 = 0.2
0.2 x 110 = 22
22 + 110 = 132
B) Explain why there was not a 30% increase in the population over the two years.
There wasn't a 30% increase in the population over the two years because after you add 10%, the whole number changes to 100 to 110, and then you add another 20% to 110. It's a completely different number with a completely different 20%. If you added 30% to 100, it would add up to 130, which is a different answer than 132.
Alright, I managed to find a really good video for converting fractions, decimals and percents. Hope it helps! :)
